Artistry Awaits

Where Art and Nature Meet Wonder
Each piece I create is a small celebration of nature’s beauty, whimsy, and magic—capturing the spirit of the wild and the tenderness of memory. My art is both a reflection of the world around me and a way to stay connected to joy, curiosity, and imagination.
My Journey
My journey as an artist began with ladybugs and horses—tiny drawings made for my grandmother who loved her garden, and hours spent sketching animals in my bedroom. Encouraged by creative relatives and inspiring teachers along the way, I always felt that art was a language I was meant to speak.
From the pride of being selected for a childhood art show to the nurturing support of mentors like my high school art teacher, Mrs. Ferrell, art has always been both a comfort and a calling. Over time, my style has grown, but the heart behind it—playful, observant, deeply connected to nature has remained constant.
Professional Activities
I hold a B.S. in Graphic Design and began my creative career working in both freelance and professional design roles. My desire to connect deeper with visual storytelling led me to pursue an M.F.A. in Illustration, where I envisioned a future illustrating children’s books and teaching at the collegiate level. During that time, I was a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators. While I haven’t yet fully pursued this path, it remains a meaningful part of my creative vision.
Today, I focus primarily on painting and mixed media. Acrylics remain my preferred medium for their flexibility and vibrancy, and I often incorporate gelli prints, drawings, and collage to build layered, expressive compositions. Animals and nature are frequent subjects—sometimes rendered with realism, other times with a sense of whimsy.
I’m an active member of the Chester Artists Association, regularly participate in art workshops and online courses, and show my work locally, including at Crossroads Art Center in Richmond, Virginia. I have also taught community art classes and love connecting with others through creative expression.
A Creative Life
My creativity flows through every part of my life. I’m the founder of Task Owl VA, LLC, where I work as a Remote Executive Assistant and Virtual Assistant, helping fellow business owners streamline their operations and reclaim their time. This entrepreneurial work allows me to stay connected with people, processes, and purpose while leaving room for artistic exploration.
Outside of work and the studio, I love to read, walk in nature, bird watch in my backyard, and volunteer with a local wildlife rehabilitation group that brings animals into public education programs. I enjoy attending gallery shows, buying fresh flowers from a local gardener, and taking stained glass classes just for fun. I also find creative inspiration in dream journaling, oracle cards, and art challenges like Inktober. Most of all, I cherish time spent with friends and family, and I thrive in spaces where creativity and community come together.
